"Get in the Game!"

March Madness has arrived.....for all of the NCAA basketball fans, it is an exciting time for basketball!!!! The best of the best compete for the honor of being the national champion.

There is, however, another champion that deserves our honor, love , and praise....Jesus Christ did something that is hard to really even understand....He died on a wooden cross for all of our sins so that we who believe and trust in Him will have a eternity to spend with Him.

One of my favorite basketball players of all time was "Pistol Pete Maravich". He was a gifted and talented athlete, but he wasn't content with those natural abilities...he continued to work on fundamentals so he could improve.  He was dedicated, he was committed, and he was tireless.  One of the things I remember reading about him was that every time he was on the basketball court, he was exciting and fun to watch.  He was very confident, but his confidence came because he knew what he was capable of doing.  Sadly, he did not come to know Jesus until he had retired from the sport he loved so well.

Even though he was "older", he was dedicated to sharing Christ to young people and developed basketball camps that were Christ-centered.  Again, Pistol Pete was tireless, dedicated, committed, to sharing his love of Jesus to as many people as he could.  He went home to the Lord at age 44 during a "pick-up" basketball game with Dr. Dobson.

Our Savior was dedicated and committed to his purpose.  I believe that Christ was exciting and fun to watch...Can you imagine the faces of those when the water was changed into wine, or the two fish and the loaf of bread that fed 5000?  Talk about excitement!!!!

I pray that you will have a "MADNESS" about your relationship with Jesus. Get excited about Him!  One way to have a relationship is to get into the "Game'. Most of us tend to be content just sitting on the bench, that is not to say we did not practice or we didn't put forth effort, we just never got into the game.  We may attend church or bible studies, but then as our week progresses, we forget to dribble, or pass, block, or shoot etc.

Okay, this may be way out of the box for some of you, but we need to spiritually dribble, pass, block, and shoot throughout our week...Be a champion...get into the game!!!
